French idioms with their english equivalents


  



J'ai un chat dans la gorge (I have a cat in the throat)
  = I have a frog in the throat
  










ça a coûté les yeux de la tête (It cost the eyes of head)
 = It cost an arm and a leg
  











Les doigts dans le nez  (The fingers in the nose)
 = A piece of cake











- Faire du lèche-vitrines (To lick the windows)
 = To go window-shopping












- C'est la goutte d’eau qui fait déborder le vase (It's the drop of water which makes overflow the vase)
 = It is the last straw (that breaks the camel's back)












- L'habit ne fait pas le moine (Clothes don't make the monk)
 = Don't judge a book by its cover
